One more thought re: the Theon scene in 3x07 - I’ve seen a few (very few, thankfully, but still a few too many) people say that because Theon stopped struggling and touched that one woman’s thigh, he obviously got into it after a while (with the implication that it wasn’t actually rape after all, “eww he can’t keep it in his pants even under these circumstances” shaming optional). Did it occur to anyone else that maybe he realized that this must be another one of Ramsay’s games and tried to act in a way he assumed was expected of him? I mean, Theon can be a bit dense, but I honestly don’t think he’s actually stupid enough to think there was no ulterior motive.
In fact, morningfine pointed out another interesting aspect to this theory: so far, a lot of Ramsay’s mindfuck went along the lines of promising mercy if Theon says/does the right thing, and while he always breaks that promise, it’s not unreasonable to think that Theon is still holding out hope that if he’s just good enough, he eventually might. With that in mind, his reaction might actually show how he’s starting to be conditioned by the mental torture.
And now I gave myself feels and will go cry in a corner.
